I haven't blogged in a while, not only that I also have not been drawing as much as I should be.
In fact I haven't been drawing at all, not even a little bit and it's making me sad.
My reason is that I just don't have time.

Isn't that the silliest excuse you've ever heard?

I have so many ideas in my head that my fingers are just itching to put onto a page and today I decided I was going to make time. Sure my room needs cleaning and there's a pile of washing to be done before work but those things will always be there.
Right now creativity is calling.

make time for the things you love, don't waste your life doing the things you hate.

Hello there friends! I have been hiding, but I'm back again and I have a new illustration to share with you! "midnight animal troupe" is the partner to "the best of friends" which you can see in my previous post. I really enjoyed drawing them both, I think I'd like to do more childrens book illustrations in the future.

I also have a new scanner and new mac so you can expect to see a lot more posts from me from now on! as soon as i figure out how they work...

we were given a book cover assignment to do in class, we were to create an illustration and font. i chose watership down... surprised?

if you haven't read it already you should, especially if you like bunnies. however it is quite sad. when i was small my mum bought me the movie to watch, but then she wouldn't let me see it for years because she was afraid i would cry.

2 awesome exhibitions

There's a couple of exhibitions around Melbourne town that I think you should see.

The first is Mitch Walder's exhibition "character" at the owl and pussycat gallery in Richmond. Keep an eye out for this guys amazing work around Melbourne in the future.

The second is Ghost Patrol's "if we're going then let's go" at backwoods gallery in Collingwood.

So there's two awesome exhibitions for you to pencil into your diary.

Make sure you get there soon though! Ghost Patrol's exhibition only runs until the 4th of June and Mitchell's exhibition finishes on the 5th. It would be a shame if you missed them.

The Melbourne Finders Keepers market is on so if you're around town you should pop down and check it out, there's so many beautiful stalls there with so many sweet things to buy! The lovely Emma Leonard will be there selling her gorgeous prints too so make sure you stop by her stall for a looksee!! And while you're there you should go and check out the finders keepers featured exhibition: drawn from fashion!

I finally drew a little something to celebrate the year of the rabbit. My little bunny Ralph is living in the stars now, along with so many other much loved bunnies.

This year is promising to be such a big year for bunnies, already it has begun with the worst myxomatosis season on record. So many families are losing their beloved little buns because of this cruel and fatal disease. Though it could be easily prevented the vaccine is illegal in Australia due to fears that the wild rabbit population might also become immune to the virus, however these fears are unreasonable. The vaccine is legal in England and the wild population has remained unaffected, it is heartbreaking and unfair that it is not available here.

On saturday Missy Bee and I went to have a peek at her exhibition at Kick Gallery. Her work is so beautiful and so delicate and very, very inspiring! Earlier this week I wandered down to ki nfolk to visit the lovely Missy Bee (pictured above). Kinfolk is a sweet little cafe with friendly staff, tasty food and beautiful art all over the walls AND it's a non-for-profit organisation! Sounds too good to be true right? but it is!! If you're around Melbourne's CBD you should definitely check it out. With Missy Bee's beautiful art on the window's you can't possibly miss it. She's a clever little kitten!

I found "sharpen your teeth" today.

On a whim I happened to stick my nose into JB Hi-Fi. I did NOT expect it to be there. I've only been waiting to get my mits on this album FOREVER!!! It was the only one there too, as if it was waiting for me.

Excited is probably an understatement...

finding that album you've been wanting for so long is the best feeling. I definitely recommend listening to Ugly Casanova, they're rather wonderful. The album artwork is awesome too, it's by a dude called Thomas Campbell. His art is beautiful and very inspiring stuff.

One Million Bunnies to Myxo Minister

Today I took part in the one million bunnies to myxo minister campaign which is a wonderful concept put forth on radical rabbit's website. The idea is to fill out the provided letter to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry then attach photos or send along a toy rabbit to represent the bunny that was lost because of myxomatosis. The hope is that one million bunnies will arrive tomorrow taking with them the desperate message that we really do need the myxo vaccine!

Please sign this petition to legalise the myxomatosis vaccine in Australia. Having the Vaccine available would save so many bunny owners much heartache and would prevent the awful pain and suffering this awful disease causes their bunnies. Also If you know anyone who has a bun warn them that this will be the worst myxo season on record and that they should keep their bunnies inside and away from mosquitos.

If you ever watched the tv series friends you might remember the magnadoodle that was on the back of Joey and Chandler's door. Every episode the magnadoodle would have something new drawn or written on it.

I've got my own magnadoodle, I've had it since I was small so it's looking a little worse for wear, when I moved out I brought it with me and now it lives on the shelf in our apartment.

My flatmate and I often draw things or write messages to each other on it and when friends visit they do it too. I love it because it generates conversation and ideas.

Surround yourself with fun creative things that you can play with... big kids need to have fun too.

I've been watching a lot of dad's surfing dvds lately. They're so good to put on in the background, just waves and music (and nice looking boys). Excellent combination.
